Yet many boaters have never received formal instruction on anchoring techniques\, anchorage selection or overnight anchoring safety. \nAnchoring with Confidence™ helps recreational boaters develop the practical skills and judgment needed to anchor safely throughout British Columbia’s coastal waters. Through hands-on exercises and real-world scenarios\, participants learn how to select anchorages\, deploy and retrieve anchors\, assess holding conditions and respond to changing weather and tidal conditions. \nThis clinic combines practical seamanship with decision-making skills that help skippers understand not only how to anchor\, but when and where to anchor. The result is greater confidence\, safer cruising and more enjoyable time on the water. This is a hands-on intensive weekend focused on anchoring techniques designed to give you the confidence you need to explore and enjoy cruising in the Pacific Northwest. \nJoin us with our partners at Seaport Yacht Charters and learn to Anchor with Confidence. \nIdeal for new owners\, charter clients and coastal cruisers looking to expand their cruising range throughout the Gulf Islands\, Desolation Sound and beyond. \n\nCompetencies\n\nItinerary Planning for Anchor deployment\nScope calculations and tidal considerations\nBottom assessment and holding characteristics\nAnchorage selection and planning\nSwing circle management\nOvernight anchoring procedures\nWeather and wind shift assessment\nStern tie techniques\nAnchor recovery procedures\nEmergency anchoring strategies\nCruising risk management\n\nItinerary\n\nDay 1:  Arrival after 3:00 p.m.\, crew briefing\, weather\, itinerary planning\, departure for first anchorage.\nDay 2 : Anchor setting practice\, transit to new anchorage\, group dinner on board\, overnight at anchor.\nDay 3: Anchor setting practice\, return to Port Sidney at 2:00 p.m.\, debrief.\n\nAll-Inclusive Price: $2\,150 per person\, single occupancy.
