On a flotilla, instruction does not interrupt the holiday. It is woven into it.
Weather briefings help determine that day’s route. Navigation brings you to a real anchorage or harbour. Docking in new marinas is less stressful because you are in the company of supportive friends. Crew alignment grows because everyone aboard has a role in making the day run smoothly. You learn because the situation calls for it. And once the boat is secure, there’s still time to explore ashore, share a meal, swim, paddle or relax on deck. The learning supports the experience rather than competing with it.
Travelling as part of a flotilla adds a social dimension that independent chartering cannot always provide. Crews meet during briefings, reconnect at the next destination and share what they noticed or learned during the day.
